Welcome 2015

First day of the year, full of hope and promise.  A fresh start.

After saying goodbye late last night and welcoming the new year,  my kids decided to watch the sun rise.  Two of them stayed up, I went to bed.  I did wake up in time and we went out there waited in really cold weather to see the first sunrise of 2015.

After that my oldest son went on a tear removing decorations.  I guess it signaled the end of the holidays.

I stayed lazy most of the day.  My server was stable a few hours but I think heat or something is killing the CPU.

I will move most of the critical VMs to another servers and see if I can do without this ESXi host till a purchase a replacement.

Remarkably, I was able to backup some data with no errors on a failing machine.   As I post I am doing the restore, I am hopeful. This server is not critical to my operations but it is hitting my pride because this is a signal that I would have lost a lot of data.  This is a Windows server and my skills in the Windows arena have eroded.  So a good restore would be a confidence boost for me.

Update: Restore was good, for the most part.

I did another half lap and half walk, was a little easier today than yesterday.
