I mentioned I got broken into a few months ago, since then I have made some changes. One of those changes was to add a Video Surveillance system.
I will be the first to tell you I did not go the cheap or easy route. It was fun though.
Also I will say a Camera does not do much but it does keep you informed of what is going around your house.
That said, I installed ZoneMinder a free open source package on Linux. The distribution I used was CentOS 5.5 and it all went on a Pentium 4 with 2GB of RAM.
