Today we decided to go and look at Mt Pinatubo. It was a very interesting day indeed.
First off it was the first time I drove in the Philippines
More on that later but that was a first, driving in the Philippines
On the way we say the Bataan Death March Monument
I wish they have taken better of the place because it seemed that it was a huge disrespect to the people that died along the way.
One of the things that surprised me was the way more amount of Filipino’s that died then Americans.
Another thing was the shape of the walls echo’d people’s voices. It was eerie. Like the ghosts were there talking to you.
I saw some soldier’s with the surname Apolonio. I post them here to honor their sacrifice during this horrible event.
It was a horrible thing that happened. There was also a railcar that attempted to describe one of the many horror’s that happened.
It was moving and I fought back the tears. I was sad, but in my mind, I thought we’re still even cause we nuked and firebombed the Japanese.
War is hell.
We left and continued to Pinatubo, and it was really “interesting”
- We drove in intermittent, heavy rain.
- Our tires were bald by American auto standards
- The wiper blades needed replacing
- The windows would not go up
- There were kids and animals on the road that I had to avoid
- We got lost
- I was tired from last nights activities.
I called it and decided to go home. Still
IT WAS HELLA FUN
Anyway, did pushups and situps in lieu of a hike up pinatubo.
