Reflections On 2024

The first half of the year was promising, all of my kids are adults now and my youngest graduated from high school. Proud of my youngest because he trained so hard for track and made it to districts, and that team won districts for the first time in over a decade. I think it was 2011 they last won districts.

Before I reflect, I want to note that I did accomplish my goal of 10k steps and 10 floors each day and I did not miss a single day.

Anyway lets recap.

The Bad

  • Son got Injured – this was the biggest tragedy, although there were some pretty close runner ups
  • Got hacked at work
  • Step dad passed away
  • Daughter broke up with her long time boyfriend
  • Got Covid
  • Other Daughter’s boyfriend got his vehicle stolen… twice.
  • Got some sore throat that may be something worse.
  • Wasted money on a Qotom firewall
  • Dog was injured in January but recovered ok
  • Tried to implement Omada controller, broke a lot of stuff
  • Seahawks eliminated from playoffs before last game
  • Got a case of vertigo
  • Power outage for multiple hours nearly three weeks in a row, but this outage prompted us to prepare by getting a trio of Power stations.
  • Youngest decided to go to PLU Bad in that he will be moving out and it is expensive

The Good

  • Kids graduated, one from High School and that same kid got an Associates
  • Other kid got a bachelors, three down 1 to go
  • Accomplished my 10k steps and 10 floors.
  • Got the meetups going at least for a few months, made my goal
  • 49ers lost the Superbowl, I did not record it (my bad) but someone provided it for me and I got to see my old high school coach on TV
  • Got a Windows 11 Laptop, that was a goal
  • Got a nice trip to Hawaii
  • Got a Samsung S24 Ultra and Yubikeys
  • Youngest decided to go to PLU Good in that he made it to a 4 year college
  • Upgraded to Rocky 9 for most of all my EL systems (only Zoneminder not updated)
  • Ran a parkrun, another completed goal
  • Started swimming and cutting sugar, found the key to weight loss
  • Redid our bedroom floor which helped reduce dust.

The year of the dragon was not kind to us.

Here is the weight to beat next year.
