We are back now, to the snow. Actually worked from home today had a few things already on my plate, but I would like to recap the trip.
Thursday we left at about 6:30AM, flight was 8:35AM got there ample time.
Flight was tight, wish we had the bigger seats which is what we got going back. Because we paid for the larger seat i think we were classified as premium.
When we arrived it was pretty hot. After we got the car we headed to Waikiki a little early, about 2PM and we could not check in till 3PM. Went to our first food spot, was Rainbow Drive in, after we checked it in we rested a bit then shopped at Crazy Shirts and went to Ala Moana shopping center for dinner. Headed to my wife’s sister’s place.
After that we went to Walmart and got our first shopping stint. On the way home got a Zip back from zippy’s.
For the first day, we got a lot done.
On Friday we woke to a beautiful rainbow outside our window.
We then went to our first stop, a grocery store where I worked at, felt sad, cause found out it was closing. Then we went to a friends to give her an arduino kit for her son.
We were going to go around the Sandy beach side of the island, but we ended up going to North Shore and went to one of our stops, Matsumoto drive in.
As we went around we came across a place where my wife and I took a photo over 20 years ago and we tried to recreate it.
Was hoping to get back in time to go to my old school, but we wanted to be back at the hotel in time for fireworks.
Then went back out to get some Malasadas.
Saturday we knew there was going to be some party on Kalakaua. This time we did go around the Sandy beach side, and tried to recreate more photos from 20 years ago.
We could not find huli huli chicken but we were able to make it around the island and find some Molokai Bread (in a lunch wagon).
We then went to Golden Coin for some lunch, meh.
We did go around Waikiki at night, also it was that day we decided to eat enough ice cream to get a free one.
Sunday we went shopping at Aloha Flea Market, got a bunch of things for the family, went to Graces Drive Inn for lunch, another meh, kind of dis appointed.
I did avoid watching the superb owl. Intentionally mis spelled.
After a bit we took some photos at Ala Moana beach and headed for one list visit to my sister-in-law’s place.
Had one last Zippy’s meal at night.
Was back at the hotel at about 9PM, got another Ice Cream (we got the Free one) and wife started packing our bags. Didn’t think she could get it all in to 2 checked bags but she did.
Monday we checked out, we called the bell hop and checked out of the hotel and about 10AM and was out in the vehicle by 10:30. Made one last cruise through Waikiki en route to Leonards Bakery for on last order. Luckily we were ahead of schedule because the wait was long and we also was slowed by traffic.
Dropped off my wife and the luggage and she was able to check in our luggage.
I returned the car and met her at the airport.
Was hoping the snow in Washington would cancel out flight, but it did not.
We were really early, we were at the airport at 11:30 for a 2:30 flight, but we got a chance to get something to eat and some coffee.
I think I prefer being early. Also was not used to the gate, D1 usually its a farther haul.
The large seat was great, we right by the wall, not sure if I liked it or not, maybe next time the seat behind it.
Got home to cold and snow. Was kind of white knuckle going home. The freeway was OK but leaving parking and side streets near home was bad.
Was happy to be home.
Today, was a snow day, worked from home.
